On the occasion of the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe, Les Cabanes du Dauphiné, an unusual accommodation located in Gap, in the Hauts -Alpes, had the pleasure of offering a Christmas gift voucher for a two-night stay to all the skippers involved in the solo, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world race.
This symbolic gesture, driven by the passion for this ocean race, aimed to honor the courage, tenacity and humility of these exceptional sailors by offering them a moment of rest in the heart of the Alps, in a natural and peaceful setting contrasting with the southern latitudes and its icy winds...
Barely had the finish line been crossed when three skippers had already responded to the invitation and come to recharge their batteries at the Cabanes du Dauphiné with their partners:
Thomas Ruyant, skipper of Vulnérable, finished 7th
Alan Roura, skipper of Hublot, ranked 18th
Conrad Colman, skipper of MS Almin, finished 21st
The Cabanes du Dauphiné team is delighted to have been able to welcome these sailors and offer them a well-deserved respite after their round-the-world trip. At each meeting, a warm, friendly gathering took place over a friendly drink, in a spirit of simplicity and mutual appreciation.
The initiative also demonstrates the desire to build bridges between worlds: that of the oceans and that of the mountains, that of comfort and discomfort, that of effort and that of rest, that of man facing the elements and that of man in the depths of nature.
Other skippers have very kindly responded and are waiting for a future visit to the Alps, notably the Alpine natives Romain Attanasio and Damien Seguin.
